What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy seeing a student become more confident with something they initially found difficult. As a Peer Tutor at Independent University, Bangladesh, I liked listening to studentsβ questions, working through ideas with them and seeing them become more comfortable asking questions. It is rewarding to help someone find a way of learning that works for them.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths are patience, clear communication and adapting my approach to each student. As a Peer Tutor, I provided one-on-one support to students with different questions and levels of confidence. As a Teaching Assistant, I also supported small groups, including students with ADHD. These experiences taught me to listen first, explain concepts in manageable steps and check whether my explanation has helped before moving on.
Most important things I can do for a student π
A tutor should make students feel comfortable asking questions, identify what they are finding difficult and help them understand how to work through it. I think it is important to explain ideas clearly, check understanding and encourage students to try things for themselves. That way, the student leaves with greater confidence and skills they can use beyond the tutoring session.
