What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the day-to-day connection with kids and getting to know how each one thinks and finding what actually clicks for them. I volunteered as a tutor for high school students through a non-profit organisation, and that experience really shaped how much I love this work. Additionally I personally feel like no two kids learn the same way, so I enjoy the problem-solving side of tutoring too which involves figuring out whether someone needs visuals, real-world examples, or just more repetition.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my biggest strengths is patience as I'm happy to explain a concept as many times as it takes, in as many different ways as it takes, until it clicks. I also think adaptability is the key that I encompass because every child learns at a different pace and in a different way, so I try to read what's working and adjust rather than sticking to one method.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make a student feel comfortable enough to ask questions without worrying about feeling "behind" or judged and a lot of learning stalls when kids are too embarrassed to speak up, so building that trust comes first. Beyond that, I think a good tutor should Know when to push a student a bit further and when to slow down, based on how they're coping rather than a fixed lesson plan.
