What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student go from feeling unsure about a concept to genuinely understanding it for themselves. I find it rewarding to work through a problem with someone, try different ways of explaining it and see that moment when everything begins to click. I also enjoy seeing students become more confident in their own abilities over time.
Having experienced tutoring myself, I understand how valuable it can be when a tutor is patient and encouraging while also teaching you how to approach problems independently rather than simply giving you the answer.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths as a tutor are patience, adaptability and clear communication. Through my experience in the VCE English High Achievement Program, I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills while also supporting peers with challenging tasks, providing feedback and helping them develop effective approaches to their work. I have also volunteered at a primary school, where I supported students with diverse learning needs and learned the importance of adapting my communication to suit the individual.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are understand a student's individual needs, build their confidence and teach them how to approach problems independently. A tutor should create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
From there, a tutor can identify where a student is struggling and adapt their explanations accordingly, based on individual student needs. I also believe it is important to gradually encourage students to become more independent and overall confident learners.
