What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most is seeing a student understand something they initially found difficult and become more willing to try questions themselves. Through tutoring English and maths, I’ve found it rewarding to work out an explanation that makes sense to the individual student. I also enjoy building a connection where they feel comfortable asking questions. Seeing their confidence grow alongside their understanding makes the experience especially meaningful to me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are patience, adaptability and clear communication. I listen carefully to a student's explanation so I can identify where they're getting stuck and break the concept into manageable steps. If one approach doesn't work, I'm happy to try another example or adjust the pace. My tutoring and volunteering experience has also helped me connect with students from different backgrounds. I am approachable and organised, and I put thought into preparing materials that address each student's needs.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

A tutor should help a student develop the understanding and confidence to work independently. This means identifying gaps in their knowledge, making it comfortable to ask questions and guiding them through their reasoning. Asking a student to explain how they reached an answer helps check their understanding and builds problem-solving skills. It’s also important to recognise their progress and develop practical study habits, so they can apply what they learn beyond tutoring sessions.
