What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is the moment when something finally clicks for a student. Sometimes I can explain a concept one way and it still does not make sense, so I try a different example, break it into smaller steps, or connect it to something they already understand. When I see that change and they can solve a question by themselves, it is very satisfying. I have experienced this during my informal tutoring and teaching at school. What motivates me is not just helping a student get the answer, but helping them reach the point where they feel, “I actually understand this now."

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe one of my biggest strengths as a tutor is that I try to understand a topic properly myself before finding the simplest way to explain it. As a university student, I am constantly learning, and I also understand students well because I was in their position not long ago. I can connect with them mentally and recognise when they are confused or losing confidence. During my tutoring and teaching experience, I have learned to change my explanations, use simpler examples, or break problems into smaller steps depending on the student. So patience and adaptability are my biggest strengths.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

To me, the most important thing a tutor can do is be patient and make students feel comfortable asking questions. As a student myself, I know how frustrating it can be when you are stuck on a small part of a topic but have no one to ask. I believe a tutor should listen carefully, never make a student feel that their question is too basic, and explain things from a different angle when needed. I also believe a tutor should help students develop confidence, not just improve their marks. Ultimately, I want students to feel supported while becoming confident enough to solve problems on their own.
