What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The moment something clicks. I taught one-to-one Maths and English to children with special needs at a centre in Qatar, and there's nothing quite like watching a concept that seemed impossible suddenly make sense, just because you found the right way to explain it for that particular person. It's the same feeling I get tutoring Accounting and Business Studies now. Less about the subject, more about that specific student's breakthrough.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience and adaptability. Every student I've worked with has needed something different: some need a concept broken into smaller steps, others just need someone to listen for where they're actually getting stuck rather than where I assume they are. I also prepare properly before every session rather than winging it, and I build rapport quickly, which matters just as much as subject knowledge in a first lesson.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Build their independence, not their reliance on you. My favourite part of tutoring is watching a student get to the point where they don't need me to solve the next problem for them, just to have been shown how once. That, plus consistency: showing up, remembering where we left off, and treating their progress as seriously as they do.
