What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy the moment a student goes from feeling stuck to feeling confident. Whether it’s a maths problem finally making sense, a science concept linking to something they see in real life, or an essay coming together, seeing a student explain an idea back to me in their own words is really rewarding. I also like that every student learns differently, so working out what clicks for each person keeps tutoring interesting.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Broad subject knowledge: I completed the IB Diploma, including Mathematics, Environmental Science and Psychology. At university I study psychology with a neuroscience minor, and I’m also completing a Master of Computer Science, so I use maths, statistics and science every day. Strong writing skills: University research reports and assessments have trained me to structure arguments clearly, which helps me support students with English essays and written responses. Explaining clearly: I break complex ideas into simple steps and use everyday examples so they stick. Patience and adaptability: Thro

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing is to build the student’s confidence and independence, not just get them through the next test. In maths and science, that means explaining the “why†behind each step so students can solve new problems on their own, rather than memorising methods. In English, it means helping them plan, structure and express their ideas clearly. Across every subject, a good tutor makes sessions a safe space to ask questions and make mistakes, teaches study skills students can use on their own, gives honest and specific feedback, and keeps communication open with parents so everyone is

About Madhulika

Strong maths and writing skills, with a focus on how students learn

I’m a third year Bachelor of Psychology student at the University of Sydney, minoring in Neuroscience. My degree involves a lot of statistics and data analysis, so I use maths regularly, and it is also heavily writing based, with essays and research reports that have built my skills in structuring arguments, writing clearly and editing carefully. I completed the IB Diploma, including Mathematics, so I understand the pressure of high school exams. I break problems into clear steps, help students understand why a method works rather than just memorising it, and support them to build the confidence to work through questions on their own.

Experienced tutor who builds confidence

I already tutor high school and IB students, and I also mentor university students through a peer mentoring program, so I’m used to working with students at different levels and with different needs. My psychology background helps me understand what gets in the way of learning, such as low confidence, test anxiety or gaps from earlier years. I create a relaxed space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while still keeping lessons structured and focused on their goals. I also keep parents updated with honest, clear feedback so everyone knows how things are progressing.

Study skills that last beyond the classroom

Beyond the content itself, I help students build the study habits that make a lasting difference, such as keeping useful notes, planning their revision, checking their work for careless mistakes and managing their time in exams. These are skills I rely on myself as a university student and as a Research Assistant at the Brain and Mind Centre, where being organised and accurate really matters. I’m reliable, punctual and well prepared for every lesson, and I genuinely enjoy seeing students go from feeling stuck to feeling capable and independent.
