What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy helping a student move from feeling stuck or anxious about a question to being able to talk through and explain the whole process independently. I love identifying the exact sticking point, modelling one clear worked example together, and watching the student's confidence grow as they solve the next problem on their own.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are clear step-by-step explanations, patient questioning, practical feedback, and reliable lesson preparation. I am currently completing a Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Southern Cross University (GPA 4.75, Distinction in Classroom Management), hold a Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) from La Trobe University, and have built a public library of 65 Mathematics teaching videos (@VictorTranMaths) alongside supporting 10+ learners over three years.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

A great tutor builds both deep understanding and genuine independence. That means diagnosing whether a learner is stuck on a past foundational gap or the wording of a question, making the mathematical reasoning visible on paper, training strong backchecking habits, and leaving them with clear, manageable practice between lessons.

About Hoang Viet (Victor)

Academic Background & Teaching Training

Hi! I am Victor, a Master of Teaching (Secondary) student at Southern Cross University (Course GPA 4.75, including a Distinction in Classroom Management and Credit in Brain and Learner) and a Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) graduate from La Trobe University (76.75 WAM). Earlier, I graduated from the High School for Gifted Students Mathematics specialist stream with a 9.4/10 GPA and created 65 public step-by-step Mathematics teaching videos.

How I Structure Lessons & Build Confidence

Over the past three years, I have supported 10+ learners across Mathematics, academic English literacy, and coding. In every session, I focus on creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions and talk aloud through their steps. We balance our time between repairing earlier foundational gaps, staying on top of current schoolwork, and previewing upcoming topics so your child walks into class feeling ahead.

Breaking Down Worded Problems & Exam Habits

Because of my combined background in Mathematics and English literacy tutoring, I specialise in helping students decode multi-step worded problems so they know exactly how to start a question under test conditions. Whether we are working in person around Mount Lawley or online using my interactive digital whiteboard and stylus setup, I help students build tidy working, continuous backchecking habits, and lasting confidence.
