What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love teaching and tutoring children for many different reasons but mostly for those special “ahaâ€Â moments when the light bulb goes off and a student “get’s itâ€Â, the “itâ€Â being whatever concept or strategy we have been working on. It begins with building a relationship with the child/student and getting to know them as a person, what interests them inside and outside of school. I believe in my students and their ability to succeed academically and overall and I make this message clear. I tell them, on a regular basis, “I believe in you! You can do this! I won’t give up on you!"
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very knowledgable in my subject areas and I am able to adapt lessons to many learning styles and ability levels. I can communicate superbly with students. I have great classroom management and I am able to evaluate my own work, and make changes as necessary. I always reflect how my lessons went, and how to continuously improve. I have a tendency to be over friendly with children. On the other hand I have good listening skills, and I understand the emotions and problems of children quite well.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A teacher must be absolutely predictable in terms of her expectations of her pupils. She must stick to her classroom expectations and be very consistent. If a class senses that the teacher is unsure, they will be in charge of that classroom very shortly. Therefore, consistency is a must. Fairness is also important. Being willing to listen and actually hear what a child is saying is equally important. Have high expectations for your students as this will increase their motivation. Tutors must create effective classroom procedures to keep disruptions to a minimum.
