What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
I enjoy helping students gain confidence in their abilities which is very rewarding. Furthermore, it is great to see students become more independent in their learning by learning techniques for studying that allows them to understand things eventually without the help of a tutor.
I believe that I am understanding and I do not believe in pressuring people to understand something to fast. I will take the time they need and try to find as many different ways as I can to help grasp a concept.
My Strengths as Tutor
I think my strengths as a tutor include my patience and my openness to trying new or different ways to explore or explain concepts to help a student understand it.
I also think that academic success is achieved through hard work rather than just being 'smart' and that most people who put in the effort to study well and have the right attitude are able to succeed academically.
Most important things I can do for a student
The most important things are:
- to help the student become an independent learner so that eventually they do not reply on a tutor for academic success
- to give them methods or techniques so that their study is more effective and efficient
- to help the student learn how to prioritize what they need to get done (in terms of homework, study or assignments) through learning time management and organizational skills
- to help the student gain confidence in their ability to succeed, especially in mathematics and physics
