What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
It thrills me to see my students enjoy the learning process as it makes it so much easier to learn. It makes me glad when students understand and appreciate the concepts presented during lessons.
I love watching students grow and become more self-confident as readers, mathematicians and problem solvers. Everyone needs to know that someone believes in them and I always let my students know I believe in them.
My Strengths as Tutor
My strengths as a tutor are that I frequently ask leading questions to help students learn and understand the material better. This also helps build their higher order thinking skills so they can apply the concepts learned to different situations and make logical decisions. Besides that, I am patient and empathetic and understand that some students require more guidance than others thus it is my duty to improvise and adapt to their best learning strategy. Finally, I am responsible and always keep parents up to date with their child's progress in class.
Most important things I can do for a student
One of the most important things a tutor can do is to build both a professional and friendly rapport with the students at the beginning. This helps to set a comfortable and safe learning environment. We all learn differently, in different ways, and at different times. A student may be a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic (movement) learner. Some are a combination of all three types of learning styles. It is my job as an educator to determine how each of my students learn best, and to teach them strategies that they can use to help them achieve their full academic potential
