What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
The satisfaction of helping a student understand the concepts is the most enjoyable part of teaching for me. I can recall how I struggled with certain parts myself or can anticipate from experience where a student can have difficulties and I can teach that concept in a manner that s/he can grasp and retain. I love that feeling of helping someone succeed, whether it has been my siblings or the students I have tutored and taught throughout my life.
My Strengths as Tutor
My ability to communicate effectively and my patience are the core strengths that have helped me teach in an efficient way. I have had experience teaching students ranging from class 1 to university undergrads that has helped me garner experience with a varied subset of students and their issues. I have taught young children as well as students in nearly the same age group as me and this has helped me hone my teaching skills. In fact, at my previous job as a graduate teaching assistant, my supervisor highly commended my problem-solving and innovative communication skills.
Most important things I can do for a student
The most important thing a tutor can do is understand the problems a particular student is facing. Each student might have a different way of thinking and different problems. The tutor needs to figure out the best method for the student so that s/he can learn the most. The tutor needs to clearly explain the concepts and then needs to ensure that the student understood them properly.
