What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Meeting new people, and going through the journey of learning with them. Understanding their struggles then seeing them overcome them is a very satisfying feeling for me. Moreover, I enjoy sharing my knowledge on such a broad subject with eager, upcoming students. Seeing them grow and progress as a student is an amazing experience to witness.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I focus on conceptual knowledge, rather than just how to do questions. Based on my personal experience, I find that understanding concepts is the better and more efficient way of learning maths, and its a way of appreciating the logic behind maths. I also make a conscience effort to befriend my student, because I think that a student-tutor relationship should not be solely business, but rather one that is also friendly - A student should feel comfortable just making random conversation with their tutor. This way, a student can be comfortable and won't hesitate to ask questions should they not understand something.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Catering lessons towards the student's weaknesses and making sure that the student feels comfortable with you. I strongly believe that a linear approach to a tutoring lesson is not the way to go; the tutor should be changing the lesson up to fit the students' needs and be dynamically changing up the lesson for the student. Additionally, from personal experience, a tutor that solely focuses on teaching and not the human side of things have generally been a bad experience for me. So from this, I will aim to not only be a good mentor, but also a easy-going friend. No matter how good you are at tutoring, you must also be a good friend to the student!
