What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the aspect of helping others achieve their goals. To see a student develop from a low-level understanding of a concept, to being able to perform that concept autonomously is a reward that not many jobs can provide. Coupling this, with my passion for learning, tutoring is a vehicle for me to impact the community positively.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths as a tutor are my patience, adaptability and communication skills. Through mentoring primary school children I have learnt that I have to adapt my teaching style to suit the learning capability of the student. This can mean having to re-word or restructure a question to make it easier to understand, and although this may take a few attempts, it ensures that the student understands what they are doing. None of this is possible without effective communication, and I aim to do this by building rapport with my students to create a cooperative learning environment.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
In school, with class sizes of 25+ students, it can be hard for students to gauge the full understanding of the materials presented in class. Tutoring gives students a chance to learn content in depth and ask questions that they may not be able to in class. Students can also have very different learning styles and I believe that a tutor can adopt a teaching method that will suit the individuals learning style. This will boost the students learning and confidence in their own ability, yielding better results.
