What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
It's definitely a reward experience when I am able to see my student's progress in learning, but from personal experience, I find the job most enjoyable when I am able to bond and connect with my students on a personal level. When they become open enough to tell me about their day or about themselves, that's when I know that we've developed a healthy teacher-student relationship, which I believe is a very valuable base for learning.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that as a tutor, I am patient and understanding.
Patience was something I found very difficult to maintain when I first started tutoring ESL students, but now it has become one of my strengths. Learning a second language is truly difficult, and I acknowledge that I sometimes forget this when I am teaching. I now know to always put myself in my student's shoes when they are having trouble understanding something. I always try to think from my student's perspective when tackling a new problem.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that instead of simply passing down knowledge to students, it is crucial to provide guidance to independent learning. Students cannot rely on tutors to help them do their work forever, so I believe that apart from teaching new learning strategies, it is also important for tutors to cultivate independence in their students.
