What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the experience of learning from others while tutoring. I find that concepts that I may have once found difficult are reinforced further when teaching to someone else. For example, I used to find particular concepts in Extension 2 Maths (ie Complex Numbers, Harder Integration) very difficult, but now I enjoy teaching and learning about them. I think this comes down to how I originally learnt most of these concepts; from first principles. Initially, this seems boring and time consuming, however I now appreciate how these more difficult concepts can be solved with basic ideas.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
- I am easy to talk to and believe that I am an effective communicator.
- I like to take responsibility for as much work as possible, and always work hard at everything I do.
- I know that I may not always know the answer to every question, however I am always keen to learn new concepts, to find said answer.
- I follow a strict study regime, and feel like this is an important characteristic of tutoring, to keep on top of the workload.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe a tutor can make all the difference to a student struggling with their studies. School teaching can often be mechanical and impersonal; an environment where some students find it difficult to learn. I know first hand that teaching in smaller groups or one-on-one works is much more effective at learning hard to grasp concepts. The impact of this can be small (IE passing a test) to large (IE finding/maintaining interest in a career path), which is why tutoring can make all the difference.
