What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love helping students reach 'lightbulb moments' - there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a student's eyes light up when they master a concept they've been wrangling with for a while. I also enjoy helping students build up their confidence as learners in the classroom.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
The two areas which I am strongest in are content knowledge and student engagement. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in creative writing and additional studies in English literature. This has given me an excellent understanding of every level of English, from the initial stages of language development in Prep through to high-level analytical and persuasive writing at a Year 12 level. In terms of student engagement, I pride myself on being approachable, confident and encouraging in the classroom, which helps me to get students engaged in their learning.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The single most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help that student engage with their learning. Decades of education research supports the simple fact that if a student is engaged in the topic being taught, the teaching itself will be infinitely more effective. Getting a student invested in the lesson and the content at hand, whatever it may be - spelling, English literature, persuasive writing or something else entirely - will open that student up to a whole new world of learning.
