What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
When I was younger, Maths was a subject that I struggled with throughout school and as a result, I hated maths classes and struggled to make progress. My turning point was when a friends older brother offered to help me once a week and while Maths never surpassed English as my best subject, these informal tutor sessions built my confidence enormously and I succeed more because of this. I know the effect a good tutor can have on a student and this is the aspect I most enjoy about tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
While knowledge is obviously important, I believe my ability to emphasis and understand the individual needs of a student is my strength as a tutor. Learning can be hard, especially if it is a student dislikes or has struggled with the subject for a long time and that can be very demoralising. I understand this clearly along with a strong basis of the english language, and how it can be taught in a a variety of ways to suit different learning styles.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Confidence is the most important thing a tutor can bring to a student struggling with English. Knowledge and new skills can be taught to anyone, but a tutor should be able to instil a confidence within student so they can bring these skills into their learning but also into their everyday life. This is achieved by building relationships with students so they don't feel ashamed that they may need some extra help and conveying constructive criticism in a positive way that doesn't make them feel attacked but helps them develop understanding of the subject.
