Olivia did a fantastic job at keeping focus and attention on working the whole time. I felt like Olivia was rushing today, she had an unfortunate event at school causing her to rewrite a story so she was a little stressed, but she did an amazing job at managing this and to focus on maths the whole time.

Olivia seems to be going back to skipping, rushing and not believing she knows the answers. this will improve if she reads the question a bit slower and audibly for reinforcement and double checking each solution, just until it becomes second nature to allow the processing to catch up with her brains speed.

Olivia did a good job at focusing on maths, however her calculations and some methods were a little jumbled, especially with division. Olivia did a great job with the NAPLAN practice test and i'm looking forward to see how she improves as we reapply double checking/back checking and being clear and precise. This will also help with speed and accuracy. Side note Olivia did a fantastic job; the 'simpler' practise test Olivia completed within 25min and every question attempted was correct, however there was a lack of back checking and she missed a question, and a couple of answers were difficult to identify the chosen or written answer. the test we did today- Olivia got 81% and i believe by the end of April (2 more lessons, one or two more practice tests) we can calmly achieve 90% or more. ??

Olivia miss read a lot of the questions today, however I later found put her glasses were missing, so i'm hoping this was the main reason and not miss reading from rushing. Olivia's clarity when answering questions will be extremely important in tests such as NAPLAN, as she will just be a number to the people and computers marking them. I would also like to work on her approach to questions, helping her to eliminate answers when multiple choice so if guessing becomes the only choice theres more than 50% chance of being correct. I would like to work with Olivia with the more effective and time efficent way of working through the tests so that stress/anxiety and rushing is completely eliminated from the process- this will allow Olivia to feel she completed the test to the best of her ability, and i'm confident leading her to have a score within the 90% range. As a suggestion, would spending some time on reading during tutoring assist her NAPLAN english results? and in turn her overall score to help get into the talented and gifted program? But i am very happy with Olivia's progress and the goal is to keep ironing out little mistakes and reaffirming her self confidence in the rules, equations and methods required to solve each question.

Olivia did a great job at identifying what her strengths and weaknesses are in maths. I felt she did a great job at getting me onto the same page. I covered a few numbers to show simple ways to get to 10 in a matter of seconds. Olivia did a great job when I put her on a time limit to answer some questions in her NAPLAN practice book.

Olivia needs to remember to read left to right- not changing the equation, such as divisions or subtractions to a 'simpler' way of calculating that will not give the answer desired. Olivia could also work on using paper to calculate so she doesn't forget about aspects of calculations. lastly, estimating: Olivia should give herself permission to be fast and estimate- not to calculate the 'insignificant numbers' such as 1's and 10's, but also to remember to check what the calculation is, ie. subtraction or addition.

Olivia did a great time with speed today and an excellent job with focus and concentration. Her multiplication was great! time was 9:56second. the only questions wrong were: 8x7 and 6x4 by accident. Olivia did a great job at recognising when she felt she wasnt sure pr good at something and then trying to work it out. excellent problem solving skills.

No concerns here at all, Olivia is fantastic and i've absolutely loved tutoring her this year, thank you so much for the joy you have brought me?. I have given a couple of worksheets on year 5 maths; multiplication, addition, subtraction and integers and number patterns if she would like to prepare herself for larger numbers. But all the right techniques, problem solving skills and tools are there. The only thing i'd like to remind her of is patience, especially when reading so she reads the information required accurately. MERRY CHRISTMAS and hopefully i'll see you again in the New Year.
