Alex gained confidence from practicing his multiplication using the Math is Fun website. Alex also practiced listing factors of numbers and using them to determine the factorized form of a quadratic expression.
I told Alex to keep using the Math is Fun website to practice his multiplication and keep building on his retrieval.
I helped Alex better understand perfect squares and how the equation works. Alex picked it quite well.

Still needs more help with simplifying and needs to be a little faster at recalling multiplication.

Alex needs to build on his knowledge and practice with algebra and clarifying the steps involved when using a method such as factorising. There is definitely improvement showing and little by little he is chipping away at the relevant concepts.

It was good to meet face-to-face. We revisited the factorization of binomial expressions. We worked from a textbook that I had and Alex completed some practice questions. I also had a look at his school data to see areas that he needed more help with.
Over the following weeks, we will need to build on this knowledge and become clearer with the process of factorizing as well as applying algebraic principles to more complex questions.
