What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy expressing my passion for the subject in a way that, hopefully, materially leads to a student's improvement - a very gratifying experience. When I see a clear upwards trend in my student's results, it makes my day.
I also enjoy getting to know my students' perspective and ideas on life - a fascinating learning experience for me that I do not take for granted.
I love the problem solving aspect of tutoring - trying to find out how to tailor an explanation of a concept in a way that 'clicks' with the learner is even stimulating for me!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My ability to:
- explain concepts intuitively;
- target weak points in a constructive manner;
- engage with students in a way that excites them - teaching with passion;
- make students feel like we are part of a team - to make them feel comfortable, confident and empowered.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
It is important tutors:
- When possible, teach the material in a way that allows students to 'see the forest through the trees' in order for them to more effectively engage in the important details.
- Teach in a way that allows for active, intuitive learning, rather than passive rote memorization.
- Make students feel like they are part of a team where both parties are working together towards the same goal. This way, students feel empowered and confident. A tutor's role is to guide, not to instruct.
- Reliably exhibit warmth, joviality, patience, empathy and enthusiasm.

More practice.
Andre was very thoughtful with his ideas about the text. He read carefully and did not take the easy way out by adding ideas to the text that aren't there.

Andre would really benefit from reading regularly.

A solid mark! Despite the broad question, Andre demonstrated a great understanding of how to properly structure an essay, as well as a good ability to think flexibly. Techniques were identified well and a good amount of rigour went into his argumentative essay!
We are going to focus on sharpening up his language.
A solid performance! Most marks lost were due to silly mistakes, and a few were due to gaps in knowledge but on the whole a very good sign!

Some drilling would reduce silly mistakes and make Andre more comfortable and confident with worded problem questions.
