What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I find immensely rewarding and enjoyable about tutoring is seeing not only performance growth, but personal growth within a student. I love seeing a student gain confidence in themselves when they perform better in an exam. I love seeing how excited they become when they answer a question right that they've never been able to answer before. It makes me so pleased to know that I have had an impact on how a student views their ability and what they can achieve.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My main strengths as a tutor, I believe, are rather my personal attributes as opposed to my knowledge of content. I am someone who is patient and empathetic. I take into account the students' circumstances and learning ability to ensure I cater my teaching specifically to them. I am dedicated to making students feel confident and comfortable in answering a question whether it is correct or incorrect- something that I felt was not present when I was previously tutored. I know that I am not only a good teacher, but a good mentor, which is greatly advantageous.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to not only focus on assessment performance, but to help a student to love learning. I have recognised that merely rote learning and constantly completing practice questions can only allow a student to improve so far- a student must have interest in what they are learning and have a positive and confident attitude to see excellent performance. A tutor needs to not only have extensive knowledge of a subject, but needs to be engaging, empathetic and personable. A student should be able to be themselves around their tutor.
