What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I truly loved English as a subject in high school, this prompted me to choose a career path which demanded great highly proficient English. To see the students I have interacted with through my clinical experience have fun and learn in the process makes tutoring so rewarding. I also enjoy building rapport with my students/clients, getting to know them and their own individual learning style. By doing this I get to divide my one on one attention on that student and help them achieve their personal and academic goals.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
- communication skills
- creating teaching materials
- motivating students
- rapport building
- implementation of evidence based practice techniques to support language acquisition
- culturally competent, clinical experience with diverse groups
- incorporating a ‘fun’ element into all lesson plans
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be empathetic. Tutors should aim to understand the student on an individual level rather than merely focusing on understanding the study material. By understanding the student, their personal goals and their individual learning styles we as tutors can deliver a highly personalized learning experience. While being empathetic tutors should also encourage independence. By supporting students with strategies, techniques and alternative perspectives to promote lifelong independent learning.
