What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping others to engage with texts and assignments in meaningful ways! I also really enjoy helping others understand the deeper meanings of particular books, plays, or poems.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a lot of background knowledge of classic texts (Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, May Shelley, etc), as well as a huge knowledge bank in terms of literary techniques (especially allusions to other texts like myths/legends or the Bible). I believe this will allow me to be particularly good at suggesting new avenues of thought for students and allowing them to engage with texts in ways they may not have considered before. In short, I can think outside the box, with evidence to back myself up!
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is get them to enjoy or at least engage more with a subject they may be struggling with. Proving new angles and fresh insight is one of the best ways to do that. I also think providing students with an internal motivation can be very helpful (getting them to engage with their assignments because they want to, not because they're being forced to).
