What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy tutoring for multiple reasons. I find that Tutoring is a flexible, rewarding and exciting job where you can make a positive difference in the life of another person. As a tutor, I have the opportunity to help students prepare for exams and help them improve in a particular subject that they are struggling in. Tutoring allows me to teach in a one-on-one situation, focusing my attention on one willing student, and helping that student to achieve his or her goal. I enjoy building a student's confidence and sharing the joy that comes with improvement.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my greatest strength is patience. From my past tutoring experience, my students were normally at different levels. I did not give up any of them. I persistently explained maths problems and functions to them. I used demonstration, practical examples, interactive exercises, and other means of getting the message over. I always ensured that every aspect of each topic was communicated, engaged with and understood fully before moving on to the next stage.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
From my point of view, inspiring student motivation for learning and helping the student become an independent learner are the most important things a tutor can do for a student. When a tutor embodies passion for learning, students are more likely to have a positive emotional connection to learning. And in this way will inspire their motivation to continue to learn. Moreover, a tutor can facilitate students the development of independent and critical thinking which, in turn, lead students to understand and utilise their individual learning styles, and ultimately achieve their goals.

Checked Luka's homework and provided feedback. We did some revisions on plotting the graph of the trigonometric function: y = -2sin(-2x-pi/2) By checking Luka's PSMT assignment, I found she is good at writing. I also provided feedback on modifying the prediction model.
Once Luka let me know if she is moving to general maths or staying in the maths method, we will decide which content we should cover during the tutoring session.

Helped Luka review the content learnt in the last lesson. Now, she can draw the periodic graph based on the trigonometric functions. In addition, we went through the assignment task sheet and how to find out the mathematical model from the provided data set.
I tutored Luka in graphing the trigonometric functions in the last session; however, she almost forgot the content (she forgot to do the homework I assigned in the previous lesson). The best way to reinforce the knowledge is practice; thus, Luka needs to do the homework I assigned in each session to improve her proficiency.
After going through examples and doing practice questions, Luka knows how to use the period and phase shift formula to sketch a graph for sin functions.

It would be helpful if Luka could do more practice questions during her spare time to improve her proficiency.

Tatiana can quickly absorb a new concept that she has not learnt at school. By testing her several extension questions that she hasn't learnt before, I found that she has a good habit of solving questions (writing down every step and using current knowledge to solve the questions she never learnt).
Due to our first lesson, I spent some time testing and knowing Tatiana's current progress. But the subsequent sessions will be mainly focused on extended topics. After that, I will assign homework on concepts learned in the session and earlier at school. In addition, to better know Tatiana's study habits, it would be great if she has the textbook and school notebook with her for each session.
