What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Being able to help a students who find mathematics challenging at school. My goal is to provide them with strategies to overcome mathematics anxiety and problems, and have them understand that mathematics is fun and that everyone can do it.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am passionate about teaching especially mathematics therefore i believe that through this passion i will be able to inspire students to enjoy mathematics. Being a university student I have access to new and current mathematics resources and teaching strategies that I will be able to use during my tutoring sessions. I have a passion for problem and project based learning and believe that people learn mathematics best when it is given in context. I can therefore provide a mix of traditional and contemporary mathematics strategies tailored to the needs of the student.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe that a tutor should be a facilitator for the student. The tutor should encourage students to problem solve and think about how they could attempt a question/problem. I believe that the tutor's job is not to give students the answers and provide rote learning strategies but rather scaffold them by asking questions, guiding them step by step allowing them to reach the answer. Through this students will develop a sense of competence for mathematics and therefore are most likely going to enjoy the learning journey. Importantly, lessons should also be fun and tailored to the student.
