What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
There are many aspects to tutoring that I really enjoy but nothing beats seeing my student/mentee excel after struggling for so long. Having been a peer mentor in high school, I really enjoy watching mentees light up, once they've managed to understand a concept they have been struggling with. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment and the comfort in knowing that I've made a difference in my student's/mentee's education.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I would say that communication is definitely one of my strengths. Having good communication skills as a tutor is really important because I will be able to better interact with my student and better understand the issues they are facing. Additionally, it will make it easier for my student to understand the concepts I am trying to get across if I am able to adequately community it to them. Another strength of mine would be passion. I really enjoy making a difference in people's lives through education. In any job, passion is really important to maintain interest and quality of delivery.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Understanding the student needs is paramount for building a great student-tutor relationship. Sometimes, students can find it difficult to focus or concentrate in class and I think as a tutor, I must be able to understand why the student is feeling such way. I've seen tutors who would get angry at students, just because they were unfocused, and I think that fosters an environment where the tutor would seem to hold an authoritative position over the student. I think that by understanding my students, I am able to foster an environment of collaboration instead of an authoritative one.
