Experience and my easygoing personality. I don't think grade school kids learn well by drilling material into their head, it's more effective using problem based learning, using more examples and applications that might help them remember key concepts.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I don't think the tutor is there to "teach" the student per se, as that should be the teacher's role. The role of the tutor is to help clarify any uncertainties the student may have in a subject, fill in the gaping holes in their understanding, allowing the student to connect the dots in key concepts.
