What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love seeing people having the epiphanic moment of understanding a concept when it is delivered to them in an appropriate manner, because that ultimately is my primary aim when it comes to teaching - breaking a teaching point down to its bare bones without the jargon and complexity.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As aforementioned, simplifying concepts into a manner that is easily accessible for everyone. I started doing this since I was in high school, when I had friends who were struggling with certain subjects. I knew that it wasn't the concepts themselves that were difficult many a time, but rather how they were delivered to the recipient, so I made sure that I could repackage the whole thing into something easier to digest for them.
I feel like I have been able to consistently do this even in my tutoring experience, which has reflected well in my students' grades as well.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being patient.
The student came to you for a reason, and making them feel incapable is the last thing you should do as a tutor. Showing empathy and understanding, validating why they might be struggling in something and then working on helping them usually increases their interest and motivation to try harder in the subject as well.
