What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the challenge; it's more complicated than studying. I enjoy the buzz one feels when a student has a lightbulb moment, it's enriching. I enjoy leaving every session knowing that I am slowly perfecting my craft as a teacher and student, and I enjoy leaving with a warm glow knowing that I have just helped someone build their foundations ready for a great future, even if it's only a small addition. I love meeting passionate, skilled people and learning from them; everyone is fascinating. The positive feedback loop of learning more and therefore being able to learn even more is addictive.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I like to think I am an empathetic, patient person and teacher. I have been there, of course, and am still currently there, so I know how beneficial kindness and empathy are in teaching, so I aim to display those qualities always. I also see teaching as an opportunity to better myself and whomever I am helping. I still have a lot to learn, but I am keen to gain experience and grow as a teacher.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do is genuinely believe in the person they are helping; it is one of the simplest but most powerful teaching methods. I also give my all in my studies; I approach them with the end goal of teaching the topic in question, no matter how complex. If you can explain it simply in such a way that (nearly) anyone can understand, then you know you have achieved a deep understanding, so it is firstly essential for a tutor to learn their subject well. I also find it crucial for a teacher to be fun and enthusiastic; smiling and easing tension are vital for morale.
