What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Helping students connect to material they had previously found challenging. I really enjoy that 'aha' moment students get when they finally understand a concept and can apply it.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My ability to tailor lessons to a students needs and study styles. I enjoy working with both advanced students as well as students with alternative learning styles.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Listen to the students and understand what the actual issue is. More often than not it's not the concept itself but how the student is processing the concept, and if you don't see that you'll only be able to help them understand through repetition.

Sydnie is keen to study ahead and understand new concepts. This helped her start synthesizing the new information and ask questions where she applied the new concepts (eg, what if the base was 4, or what the base was negative)
Sydnie hadn't gotten any practice in since the past lesson. Practicing her assigned problems or some problems will help with retention.

Syd has an intuitive understanding of ratios and relationships between two variables. She can use a ratio to calculate mileage or rates. She is slowly connecting those concepts with new concepts like gradients and the equation of a line.
Sydnie would benefit from a refresher on basic math skills. She tends to make small errors (ex, subtraction, division, flipping a fraction) that then lead her to the incorrect answer. Especially when she has a clear understanding of how to solve a problem, these little errors become critical to fix. Also, Syd doesn't have a clear idea of what has already been taught in class or what will be taught next.

Siya seemed a bit tired and unwell. This impacted her focus. Perhaps next time if she is feeling unwell, we can reschedule the session for when she is rested and able to catch up.
