What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I particularly enjoy the moment when someone truly understands what you've been trying to teach them. The "lightbulb moment". It makes me feel great knowing that someone has actually understood what I've taught them, and they have taken something meaningful out of the lesson.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My approach towards teaching is to assume that the student has no background knowledge of the concept, and I am explaining it too them for the first time. This ensures that I cover the concept thoroughly, allowing the student to appreciate the "web" of information, rather than the concept out of context.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
First and foremost, a tutor must TEACH, rather than demonstrate. The student should UNDERSTAND what was taught, rather than just know how to apply formulae, solve equations, etc. mindlessly. Understanding is the foundation on which more understanding can be built. Tricker questions in exams test understanding rather than repetition. For the best chances of the student to succeeding, the tutor must guarantee that the students know the why, and not just the how.
