What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy sharing success with the student when you can see they that finally understand how to complete a problem. Seeing their eyes light up when they solve a Mathematics equation by themselves is very gratifying for me.
As an example, during high school, I sat next to a student who struggled with grammar and putting sentences together with cohesion. I was able to help him to understand how to make a sentence flow well and, when he received an essay mark back, seeing how happy he was made me feel extremely accomplished.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am extremely patient and have spent hours on one problem with a student before who was unable to grasp the problem. I tried many different methods and was eventually able to help them.
A second strength would definitely be my critical thinking. I may not always be able to complete a problem instantly, but I am always able to find a way to approach it and get the answer.
Finally, I think my English skills are very strong. Studying law has allowed me to build upon a subject which I was already very good at.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing in my opinion is helping the student understand the problem, simply completing the problem for them helps no-one. If a tutor can do this, then the student should be able to complete any problem.
Secondly, I think that it is important to treat the student as if they are an equal. Students who require tutoring generally struggle with that subject and I think helping them to understand that they are not any less intelligent than the other students is very important, they simply think in a different way.
