-Application questions involving exponential & logarithmic equations -Using the exponential growth and decay formula A = Ao*e^(kt) -Understanding that when k > 0 (positive), the model represents growth. -Understanding that when k < 0 (negative), the model represents decay. -Using knowledge from "General Maths" subject to help formulate answering problems eg. an increase of 10% per year can simply be expressed as 1.10^t etc. -Converting from exponential form to log form and vice versa.

-Remember to take care with your unit values. In past exam papers, sometimes they will suddenly switch unit types to catch students off guard. Eg value is given in days, but question wants the missing value expressed in hours instead etc.

-Stating domain and range of functions. -Using the vertical line test to prove if a relation is a function. -Using the horizontal line test to prove if a function is one-to-one. -Finding the inverse of a given function -Sketching piecewise-defined functions

-Be careful if you need to find the inverse of a function. This is because the inverse function might not exist for all x values of the original function. Hence the original function's domain might first need to be restricted. -Remember inverse functions only exist for a one-to-one functions. EG. A parabola is not a one-to-one function hence to find its inverse we would need to restrict its x values.

-Excellent work with long division polynomials -Knowing x intercepts are your factors and hence stating them -Knowing that a turning point which lies on the x axis mean you have repeating factors at that point. (eg if turning point is at x = 3 and a x intercept at x = -1, then your factors are (x-3)(x-3)(x+1) ) -Finding the cubic equation.

-Remember to use your CAS more if you get stuck with a problem. Even though it won't show the full work, it could help trigger your memory on how to proceed with the problem. -If the question simply asks to find the remainder of a polynomial, ALWAYS do the quickest method (eg x value substitution rather than long division)

-Using set notations to express domain and range values. -Understanding what a relation is, what a function is, and what the difference is. -Using the vertical line test to prove if a relation is a function -Using the horizontal line test to prove if a function is one-to-one -Sketching piecewise-defined functions.

-For piecewise-defined functions, break up each section individually first. -Then draw a quick sketch of each of the separate functions -Then finally combine all functions into one graph. -Take note of each sections end-points. Any that overlap will simply create a sharp point, however any that are separated from each other must end with a solid or open dot.
