What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy seeing the impact I can make on students. Especially when they understand a challenging concept and have that lightbulb moment.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am an incredibly patient and understanding person. I cater my lessons to suit the students needs and interests. For example, if a student is interested in cars l create analogies around cars which will keep them interested. I have easy methodologies for all students to understand.
Most important things I can do for a student π
As a tutor, the most important thing I can do for a student is to be available whenever they need me. In the past, students have had questions 1 hour before their exams. They have my number so they can contact me as needed and I will reply ASAP to explain what they are struggling with. To be a tutor is to be a source of knowledge that they can receive at any point in time. As a tutor, you are there to guide and aid them when needed.

Lexi has worked incredibly hard in the past week and it is so impressive to see such a young girl work so diligently. She is really good at problem solving questions (e.g., worded questions that require her to create an algebraic expression). She asked for a lot of revision material from me which showcases a true drive in improving her mathematics grade. She is picking up on concepts really quickly and understand them well after I explain it once or show her an example.
Lexi needs to focus on what the question is asking her. She tends to go on her "gut feeling", as she describes it. Which means she sees a question and solves it out how she would and often disregards algebraic rules. This often leads her getting confused about certain rules (she forgets that +/- algebra has different rules to x/Γ·). Focusing on the question will definitely improve her marks considerably.

Ayaansh is an incredibly intelligent individual. He was able to figure out simple arithmetics very easily. He was even able to tackle some grade 3 NAPLAN questions which shows a level of high intelligence and IQ.
Ayaansh uses his hands a lot to do questions. It is fine to do that at his level. However, he should at least know what the numbers looks like on his hands. For example if I gave him a question like '5+3=?". He would count on his hands to get 5. At his level, he should really know this. However, we will work on improving this. Ayaansh lacks a lot of focus and tends to distract himself easily. Only when he is motivated he will answer correctly. I realised this halfway through the lesson and used games to motivate him. Sometimes, he would answer questions incorrectly but once prompted with the question again he would answer correctly. Other than that, he is an incredibly bright student with a lot of potential - only if he applies himself.

Maby is a bright student. He knows the content really well and is incredibly hardworking. Heβs mastered all of the maths and science content and it is incredibly impressive. He did most of the test questions I asked him to do even with such a busy schedule. He answered 99% of the questions correctly which is impressive considering the exam is extremely challenging. Well done Maby!
Maby needs to be careful when reading the questions. The questions are there to confuse students so often the wording will trick them. So it is important he reads them well. He needs to practice more of the complicated questions to understand different types of questions. Other than that, heβs done a great job!

Lexi has improved significantly from last week which is so fantastic to see! She came prepared with all her materials (e.g., test outline, maths homework book and workbook, tutoring material etc.). She understood the concepts in class and even challenged herself when she pointed out she didn't understand a question, which she then attempted in front of me (and got it correct!). She is really growing to like maths as well as she is understanding the material more. She is asking her teacher questions and getting explanations - which is great to see! She is aiming high for the exam next week which is so wonderful to see that she believes she is able to achieve this outcome to some level. Well done Lexi, so proud!
Lexi's algebra skills are still lacking a bit. However, she seems to be improving a lot. She needs to work on memorising her multiplications a lot as she is still relying a lot on her hands to try and figure it out. She needs to be constantly revising her previous work, which she doesn't seem to do at the moment. As a result, she forgets what she has done at the beginning of the term and relies a lot on being taught on the content again, from scratch. Although I think she will not be able to get an A on the exam, I still think she will perform well as she has a strong motivation to do so. I personally think she could a B if she revises all her content but due to the time constraints, this could prove to be a bit difficult. This has nothing to do with Lexi's performance as a student, but more so with the school giving enough notice regarding upcoming exams.
