What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the joy and excitement when it finally clicks or when they’re able to solve the problem on their own. My ultimate goal whenever I was helping my younger siblings or kids I babysat with their homework was to foster problem solving and a love of learning rather than just completing the problem- and seeing that come to fruition makes me incredibly happy.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my main strengths is patience. I’ve seen and experienced firsthand how frustrating it can be when the concept seems to far out of reach, and that it can take time before it “clicksâ€. This also lends me to remaining calm and encouraging when a child maybe acting out of that frustration. My other main strength is adaptability. If a child doesn’t understand how I explain it the first time, I like to stretch myself and see how I can explain it differently or use other methods. I truly enjoy this part of the tutoring process as well.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most absolute and important thing is to encourage a love of the learning process. This can come through your support and guidance as they learn how to persevere and solve things on their own. To do this, the tutor can work to create a comfortable learning environment where questions are ok, you can repeat as many times as necessary, and being wrong sometimes is part of the process.
