The most important things a tutor can do are to be patient, provide clear explanations, and adapt teaching methods to suit the student’s learning style. Be patient with students, understand their concept-grasping power (since it differs from student to student), provide special attention to slow-learners, appreciate students (when they get the hang of things or score good marks) and motivate students (when they make mistakes)! I love making complex concepts simplified (easy-to-understand), am…

A tutor should adapt their teaching skills to each student, let him/her make mistakes and then learn from them. It also important to help the child develop good study habits as independent…

A tutor doesn't need to use fancy language - what matters is that they are able to educate their students - the basic concepts in the most simple way, so that they are able to connect it with their life and…

Being an inspirational character. A tutor has to encourage his/her students always. During a semester/course, there will be certain times when students will lose interests for a poor mark (may be), or a personal problem. A tutor can't force a student to complete a session because it has to! A friendly approach can be helpful sometimes as well.…

Build their confidence. Every student is different. One cannot treat them on the same plain. Some are aware of their shortcomings and are just confused. Some are hardworking while others can be smart-workers or differently remarked. A tutor must recognise that talent in them and help them use it in growing. Explaining instances metaphorically…

The Tutor should have a lot of patience while teaching children, as each child is different from one other. Tutor should understand each student's ability and talent and motivate them to do further in their own field. It should be the tutor's job to go to each student individually and ask if they are good with study materials and understanding…

To be there as a support structure, not just a tutor that's only available during the assigned time. To inspire a student to be curious and develop a love of learning, as people are not often motivated to improve in areas in which they lack passion. Getting started with a EzyMath Tutor was very easy for us, after the initial online request by us the rest was proactive by the EzyMath office. The tutors we had were very friendly, with each having their own tricks to help my son understands what he couldn't at school.

Inside ViewbankTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Zoe worked on converting between fractions and decimals, as well as tackling geometry problems involving three-dimensional shapes like prisms and pyramids.

In Year 7, Alex focused on algebra from Chapter 4 of the Edrolo textbook and practiced solving equations using different techniques.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Maya prepared for a probability and statistical analysis test, working through practice questions to strengthen her understanding of data interpretation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student in mathematics often left homework incomplete, which meant "basic and elementary concepts were still foreign" during lessons—key gaps appeared when new algebra content was introduced.

For a Year 10 class, lack of attention span made it hard to interpret questions correctly; as one tutor observed, "he missed what the question was really asking," leading to avoidable errors.

In senior years, messy handwriting and reluctance to show working led to confusion when revisiting problems.

When homework is neglected or rushed, progress stalls and confidence dips during revision before tests.

Recent Achievements

One Viewbank tutor noticed a Year 8 student who, after struggling with basic fraction addition, now solves algebraic equations independently—a big step up from earlier sessions.

In a recent high school session, two brothers who often hesitated to participate began enthusiastically competing to answer percentage questions first, showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who previously lost focus easily managed to read through his homework and tackle tricky decimal problems on his own; he finished the final set of calculations without needing any reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Rosanna Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Viewbank Primary School.
