I think the most important thing to understand is that each student has different needs and styles of learning and you need to tailor your teaching to the way that would help the student learn and engage the best. Patience and trying to make people understand the concepts in a way that they would grasp it the…

From my perspective, a tutor is also a teacher as we teach and deliver knowledge to students. Each student sits at a different level, which requires different tutoring method and approaches. Understanding is key in tutoring as adequate assistance would help a student to achieve their best potentials. Secondly, we as tutoring should make students…

I realised that the real challenge often isn't the students' abilities but their engagement with the content. My goal as a tutor is to approach material proactively, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to ask 'why?' and 'how?' instead of passively accepting information at face value. I believe in creating an environment where students feel…

1. Personalize the learning. every student is different, so what works for one does not necessarily work for the other. 2. Be ready to help. As the job entails, the tutor must be willing to work according to the student's desire. 3. Teaching them how to learn. the ultimate goal of the tutor is teaching the students how to learn and apply. The most important things a tutor can do for a student involve making the student understand the concepts at a deep level, rather than tutoring them solely for the purpose of achieving higher grades. I believe a good tutor should remove the fear of a subject, if any, from a student's mind and encourage them to learn in more detail, while providing…

I think a tutor has to be such kind of person who can unwillingly be able to establish himself/ herself as a role model to follow which will guarantee the success of the the student in the future. My personal opinion on me is I can understand the problem being faced by the students despite their denial about the problem and eventually bring them…

Not give the answers but help support the learning process and give guidance when the child needs it most. Inside WareembaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Rose practiced multiplication using the column method for two- and three-digit numbers, then started long division, reinforcing skills with games and timed worksheets.

A Year 9 student revised trigonometry and probability questions to prepare for an upcoming exam, focusing on solving right-angled triangle problems and basic chance calculations.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student worked through questions on finding the midpoint, distance, and gradient of a line given two points, applying these to graph linear relationships.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student tended to check every maths answer with me before moving on, showing hesitation despite correct work—this meant quiz time was spent seeking reassurance instead of practicing independently.

In Year 10, a missed assignment detail wasn't shared during sessions; as the tutor noted, "he would have benefitted from input," but did it alone and missed out on targeted feedback.

A senior student struggled with exam time management, having to rush sections after underestimating how long tasks like financial maths would take. The stress lingered as she recounted feeling pressed for time after the session ended.

Recent Achievements

One Wareemba tutoring session saw a Year 11 student move from relying on memorised rules to confidently breaking down differentiation problems step by step, even cross-checking with earlier concepts like Pythagoras when needed.

In Year 9 English, a student who used to struggle with essay structure is now independently using the P.E.E. format and can clearly explain her reasoning for each point.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who often rushed through addition tasks surprised her tutor this week by pausing to double-check answers—spotting and fixing her own errors before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Five Dock Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Abbotsford Public School.
