Year 4 student Sam worked on reading, writing, and locating numbers up to two decimal places and compared hundredths using calculator-based place value activities.

Year 7 student Olivia practised ordering decimal numbers to three places and revised NAPLAN Numeracy test questions with a focus on place value for whole numbers up to one million.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Riley tackled converting metric units of measurement and was introduced to the concept of volume, exploring long multiplication strategies as well.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student repeatedly left sections of maths homework incomplete, especially in exercises converting fractions to decimals, which slowed progress on new material.

In Year 8, a tutor observed her working for subtraction with decimals was hard to follow—numbers not lined up, steps missing. This caused repeated calculation errors that weren't caught during checks.

A Year 11 student focused revision only on familiar algebra questions and avoided tackling multi-step worded problems or taking up feedback on errors. When asked about this, he admitted feeling less confident after recent test setbacks and didn't want to "see where I went wrong."

Recent Achievements

A Warradale tutor noticed Brooke, a high school student, has begun tackling algebraic equations independently without relying on her calculator—choosing to solve them on her own, which is a big shift from earlier sessions when she'd avoid manual calculations.

In Year 8 maths, Prajna now takes more time to re-read comprehension questions before answering and has improved her accuracy as a result; previously she'd rush through and miss key details.

For a younger learner, Jye is showing clearer self-correction while reading aloud—he used to stumble over new words but now pauses and tries decoding strategies before moving on.
