Tutors have the important role of helping build a student's confidence and guide them to becoming more efficient learners. A tutor should also create a safe, non-judgemental learning space for students to grow academically. From experience helping peers and my younger brother with school, I found that a strength I have is simplifying concepts to…

The most important thing that I can do as a tutor would be to make sure the kid understands everything that I teach. Each kid is different. Finding the right teaching style for that kid and teaching as such will make the kid more involved into the subject and makes learning fun. I am a very good observer and an active listener. I make sure I tend…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is act as a motivation for them to achieve their personal best. Although raising marks is the main objective for tutors, they must be able to interact with the students and find their weak points and there is a limit to what they can teach. They must act as a pillar that can support their…

I believe a tutor can uplift the confidence of a student by encouraging him/her every step of the way which will benefit the students in their future. I would say breaking down a complex matter into a simpler solution so that the concept is easier to grasp for the students. Making the lessons easier by using storytelling as examples when the…

A good tutor can boost the confidence of his/her student, can motivate the student to face problems by encouraging critical thinking. The tutor should encourage the student to speak out their mind and ask questions. I am a keen listener which I believe, enables me to understand what the student needs. A tutor should realize that once upon a time, they themselves were a student who must have struggled with certain subjects and also fared well in certain other subjects. And they should realize from their own experience how much of a difference can a good teacher bring into the lives of students. A good tutor will leverage their own experience as…

A tutor should identify the students' areas of weakness and focus on helping the students gain knowledge in these areas rather than teaching the student what they already know. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is build a good relationship so the student feels confident and secure. While education is paramount, a student who feels unsafe or stressed is more likely to perform poorly and absorb less information, so I believe that being someone the student is comfortable around in turn leads to…

Tutors have to be cooperative and empathetic to teach students. Moreover, they need to embody leadership qualities. A tutor's job is to fuel their students' love for learning, make them independent, and lend them a hand when it is needed. Help them enjoy learning. The role of a tutor should be to engage the student and make the learning process fun, encouraging them to put more effort into their learning, consequently improving their results. As well as this, it is vital that a tutor guide the student to a solution rather than simply giving them the answer, allowing them to…

El-Abed is a great tutor. He is very dedicated and is passionate about maths. This translates very well with his tutoring style. El-Abed is very patient with his students, and really takes the time to explain each problem. Communication between the Ezymath office and myself is excellent. They respond in a timely manner, and are very supportive with any issues.

Inside Wolli CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sophie focused on cylinders and circles, as well as comparing discrete and continuous data sets using mean, median, and mode.

In Year 11, Ethan practised solving trigonometric functions within restricted domains and worked on graphing these functions for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Emily applied differentiation rules to find equations of tangents and normals to curves, alongside further revision of rates of change using exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Advanced Maths, one student struggled with exam time management—"please also be mindful to allocate the time accordingly to the marks"—resulting in rushed explanations despite strong understanding.

Another in Year 10 Mathematics avoided showing full working for algebraic steps, which hid sign errors and slowed feedback.

In Year 8 Science, note-taking habits were inconsistent, leading to missed key terms during revision.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner found it hard to follow story sequencing and often skipped reading back aloud, making comprehension and problem-solving more difficult when tackling worded maths questions.

Recent Achievements

One Wolli Creek tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to tackle harder calculus problems now choosing to graph complex derivatives independently, applying rules for trigonometric and exponential functions without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, another student who used to skip practice questions in probability began working through each step aloud, asking clarifying questions rather than guessing—showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a younger learner in Year 4 has started sounding out unfamiliar words with little encouragement and can now retell stories in her own words after reading each chapter.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Arncliffe Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Al Zahra College.
