Learning Chemistry feels like learning a new language. It's hard in the beginning, you don't know what to look out for and even though you recognise things here and there that doesn't mean you can read a formula, let alone understand it. It's one of those subjects where it clicks or it just doesn't. Tutors we work with understand that. They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping...
Learning Chemistry feels like learning a new language. The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Learning strategies are generally very good: - Bryony always speaks out loud when solving problems - She is still getting into the habit of double-checking her answers - She is improving in self-confidence when tackling problems - She is willing to ask questions when unsure - She is improving in tackling problems from different approaches and methods
Court's attitude is generally positive and she is receptive to our discussions. I can feel that she looks forward to every tuition knowing that she will learn something new or improve in certain areas. Courtney is always focused during our sessions. Rarely do I feel that her mind is thinking of something else when we are discussing. I can say that she is giving her best and wants to get better grades. Courtney is very organized. She does a lot of note taking in class which means she is attentive.
Courtney sometimes makes careless mistakes when solving and one way to prevent them is by always backchecking and self-questioning when she is solving. Court sometimes gets careless when solving and make simple mistakes but I'm not worried a lot. Her math skills are really good and she just needs to backcheck her work everytime to lessen these mistakes.
