I believe being understanding of their needs and patience are the most important qualities. A student will only make the most out of the tutoring session if the feel completely comfortable and listened to, as a tutor I believe engaging them in this way is crucial. I think I am friendly and engaging which I believe is essential in fostering a…

Taking initiative to bring the student out of their comfort zone. In a lot of cases, students fear showing their lack of knowledge, especially in group settings. However, it is important for the tutor to recognize this and invite the student into the circle of discussion and let them contribute. It is crucial to create a safe space that is…

I think the most important thing is patience as not all students are fast learner. Sometimes repetition is needed in tutoring and we need to stay calm and cool while explaining it repeatedly. Also, communication skills are essential. A good tutor knows how to deliver the subject so that it is easy to be understood by the student. 1. Patience 2.…

There are some important things a tutor can do for a student. The first one is clear communication. Secondly, being patient to students is also very important. Last but not least, providing a relatively easier way to solve the problem is important too. There are some strengths of me as a tutor. I am patient. I leave some time for students to…

Ensure that the student is gaining confidence and is improving. I believe its not the final result that counts, but its ensuring the student's mental health is taken care or whilst the student is experiencing a steady improvement. I believe I am a person with strong moral values that can grasp concepts relatively quickly. I also memorise content…

I think a tutor should create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions without worrying about making mistakes. Beyond improving marks, a tutor should help students understand the reasoning behind problems so they can apply what they've learned independently. A tutor should know the student's learning style well and be able to cater to their needs. A tutor should also provide a strong foundation to the subjects so that students can build upon this foundation and practice and get better in the future. According to me, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be a good listener. It is very important to know and understand why a student is facing a problem in a particular situation so that it can be tackled. The tutor should also be compassionate and patient toward the student and should be able to adapt themselves as per the…

Confidence. A great tutor doesn't just teach the subject, they help the student believe they can master it. That shift in mindset is what drives real progress. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to believe in them. Often, students seek tutoring because they believe they cannot achieve their academic goals, and if that thought persists, it can hinder their ability to perform. Having someone who believes in them helps boost their morale significantly, making them more eager to…

Local Reviews

Angela has been tutoring our daughter for several weeks now and we think she is amazing. We have seen a huge improvement in our daughters math work. Angela puts a lot of thought and effort into her lesson planning eg. bringing worksheets, a white board, worksheets and visuals to make things easier for our daughter to learn. Angela also has a very gentle, patient and friendly manner which is also very important to us. We are so happy with Angela and highly recommend her.
Debbie, Attadale

Inside AttadaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Charlotte focused on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages as well as tackling measurement conversions such as millimetres to kilometres.

In Year 8, Olivia worked through area and circumference of circles using formulae, alongside practice with surface area and volume for composite shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Ben reviewed indices rules and prime factorisation to determine if a fraction would become a recurring or terminating decimal.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, when faced with multi-step fraction and percentage problems, hesitated to show her working—leading to confusion about which operation to use next. As a tutor noted, "she sometimes slips up with applying the correct operation (+, –, ×, ÷) to a line of working."

In Year 10 algebra lessons, another student avoided writing steps for rearranging equations; this slowed progress as small sign errors went unnoticed until checking answers at the end.

Meanwhile, missed sessions without notice (noted in Years 6 and 9) meant gaps in revision and lost opportunities for targeted feedback before upcoming tests.

Recent Achievements

One Attadale tutor noticed Poppy, a high school student, taking real initiative with algebra—she's now more comfortable rearranging equations and is starting to solve for x with less prompting than before.

Chloe, also in high school, has become much quicker at converting fractions to equivalent forms when adding or subtracting, something she used to hesitate over.

Meanwhile, Riva in primary school was excited to show off her mastery of the grid strategy for double- and triple-digit multiplication; this time, she applied it independently across several problems without needing reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as AH Bracks Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Attadale Primary School.
