The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Tomalin works well orally using talking aloud and self questioning well by talking through each step as she works, however, she needs to improve her back checking and pen to paper techniques. While she does attempt to do these, the manner in which she writes her work and structures her answers is very scattered therefore making it difficult for her to follow. These format skills have been one of the key areas we have focused on.
Claire is a very attentive and diligent student who welcomes new concepts and 'tricks'. Hard working student who shows working even with really long and tedious questions. Great work habits - constantly taking notes, asking questions and tackling questions by herself.
When we start up tutoring again next year, we will be practicing his long multiplication, factorising and any more past gaps that arise. These are fundamental skills which are assumed knowledge and he should aim to be competent in them. Brodie's biggest problem was cosine and sine functions, which we focused on in the weeks before his exam. He has improved considerably and we will revise them at the beginning of next year to ensure he withholds that knowledge.
We have been extremely happy with Mihika. Luca has always been a good Maths student but we felt that he needed a little push on year 7 to get him into good habits & not get behind. We feel that with the help of Mihika he had been able to achieve this. We will make sure to recommend your service to anyone looking for tutoring services Thank you
This all seems to be going really well. We are very happy with James and his reliability, knowledge of the area and approach to tutoring.
We are happy with Taylor. Emilie gets on well with her and they work well together. Taylor is keeping the work current and relevant.
