Students are different from each other, some are fast learner while others are the opposite. As a physics tutor, I think its important to deliver a lesson that is easy to comprehend regardless of how academic the students are. I am more to lean to visual than texts. Since one of my hobbies is drawing, I would use this skill to deliver visual aid…

Students spend a major part of a day in school. Many children are unable to get the most of it due to time-constraints and lack of individual attention in a class. However, there are a few students who maintain attention and focus in a classroom environment. Reason is they are more prepared than the rest. If a child follows what is happening in…

I think a physics tutor should not only serve as a teacher of sorts, but also a mentor. It's important that a student can look up to their tutor to give them the drive and confidence to continue learning since they have a role model who supported them in their learning and accomplishments. Tutors should also give students the tools needed to not…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to not spoon-feed the student. School is about learning to tackle challenges and problems, not necessarily about just passing or just scoring good grades. As a tutor, you are there to ensure you equip the student with the right tools and show them how to use those tools. I…

A tutor can bring in enjoyment into students even when they study. Most of the students don't enjoy study time the main reason being they don't understand certain concepts and find it hard. But a physics tutor can explain that to students in a way they understand bring in interest thereby the enjoyment factor into it. I have great patience, good…

Local Reviews

I had a Maths tutor for my son in year 10. It was the best thing I ever did for his progress. Kamran was polite, courteous, on time and thorough at all times and I was given regular feedback. Bradley's grades went from a B to A and he is less anxious about sitting a maths exam now.

Inside CarramarTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Islay focused on calculating probability for events in random experiments and revising mean, mode, median, and range using Year 9 Statistics and Probability test questions.

Another Year 9 student worked through surface area and volume problems involving cuboids and cubes, including Naplan-style assessment tasks and classwork on Venn diagrams.

For Year 10, study with Emily included Pythagoras' Theorem practice as well as developing clear summary notes to support understanding of key trigonometric relationships.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra work showed missing steps and incomplete working, making it hard to spot where mistakes occurred; as a tutor noted, "he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors."

In Year 11 Maths, one student lost marks on probability trees by adding instead of multiplying, but the issue wasn't content—it was misreading multi-step questions and not breaking down information.

A Year 8 learner relied heavily on reassurance rather than reviewing feedback or checking answers independently.

For a Year 4 maths student, unclear note-taking (small writing, uneven lines) made revision harder after lessons.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Carramar recently noticed a big shift with one high school student who, after struggling to expand double and triple brackets, was confidently completing these problems on her own by the end of their session.

Another win came from a Year 7 student who used to claim he "knew how" to solve maths questions but would get stuck when explaining his thinking; now he identifies both his strengths and areas that need work before tackling tasks.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who previously hesitated with money problems was able to count different notes independently and even chose new strategies for working out totals without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Joondalup Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Carramar Primary School.
