As teachers have to look over a lot of students, students who fall behind or struggle with conventional learning styles only get a limited amount of help. This is where the tutor jobs come in and provide a customized learning experience that is ideal and unique to each student. Tutors are like safety inspectors where they 1. Recheck their…

Inspire them. Anyone can regurgitate textbook material in a different way. But only few can truly educate and inspire their students to become the very best version of themselves. Some of the strengths that I believe are quite necessary for a tutor other than leadership are resilience, and the ability to properly analyse a students learning…

I believe that a tutor must guide the student to learn independently by introducing different methods and techniques to learn. This is because an hour or two of supervised study in a week is not sufficient to learn and excel in a subject. Further, in this modern world with ever expanding technology there are many avenues to study and learn the…

Inside CarraraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Fractions worked on recognising and comparing fractions, as well as finding a fraction of a whole number using practical examples.

In Year 11, Hamiltonian path and cycle problems were tackled along with Euler paths and circuits, focusing on understanding how to identify these in various types of networks.

Year 12 student covered Time Series Analysis, including mean-smoothing techniques and interpreting trends in real data sets for Unit 4 assessment preparation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for Economics struggled to finish assignment calculations and analysis, leaving sections incomplete. As one tutor observed, "she needs to go through the sources, complete analysis and the rest of the essay," which left her argument unsupported in drafts.

In Year 9 Mathematics, a student's messy handwriting and skipped mathematical signs ("+" or "–") made it hard to follow working out—mistakes weren't easily caught on review sheets.

Meanwhile, a senior student tackling trigonometry hesitated to attempt harder questions without notes, slowing recall during timed practice. The unfinished work meant gaps lingered when new material was introduced.

Recent Achievements

A Carrara tutoring session saw one Year 11 student make a big leap in maths, moving from a 3/14 to an 11/14 on her latest exam after consistently recalling and applying tricky theory that used to trip her up.

In another high school example, a tutor noted how Sherisse now voices her questions openly during lessons instead of staying silent when confused—she's also begun organising her notes and homework much more methodically.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who previously hesitated with two-digit multiplication can now solve these problems quickly and accurately, even tackling long division independently by the end of the lesson.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Helensvale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Emmanuel College.
