Learning Chemistry feels like learning a new language. It's hard in the beginning, you don't know what to look out for and even though you recognise things here and there that doesn't mean you can read a formula, let alone understand it. It's one of those subjects where it clicks or it just doesn't. Tutors we work with understand that. They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping...
They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping others do the same. They know the pitfalls, where to spend that extra hour and what you need to memorise before you can completely understand a concept.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
5.3.19- need more pen'to'paper strategy from Chelsea. Has good formatting and transfer strategies across Financial Maths. 7.3.19- good use of formatting skills, transfer skills. More back checking and self questioning needed to eliminate careless errors. 21.3.19- Good use of notetaking, self seeking and okay to be wrong techniques.
Great attitude, very willing to learn Good effort, completed everything I asked her to without complaints Needs to be a little more organised in terms of pencils, paper, and school homework to complete, but otherwise great.
Identified an issue with place value. Functional use of place value reasonably good, but a lack of full understanding here causes some mistakes in calculations. While doing questions Joshua will sometimes mix up tens/tenths and hundreds/hundredths. He will also sometimes misalign numbers when adding or multiplying 3 digit numbers causing errors.
Ranul has been fantastic. Ava seems to have really taken a liking to him which helps!
Matthew has become much happier to talk & often inform us about math problems & the confidence he has gained even at this early stage of being tutored is huge. Andrew has been a tremendous help so far.
We are very happy with Theodora and since the school year is coming to an end, we look forward to seeing her again in 2018.
