What I consider most important things a tutor can do for a student is first off all understand in the areas the student needs more focus and development to personally plan a progression that can help improve the child’s injects areas and give it the extra help it needs to plan according to its requirements. Well planned lessons focusing on…

A tutor must be able to improve the student academical situation, but also take in consideration of the student learning pace. One must also provide the correct learning environment for the tutee to learn in. The tutee must be comfort to efficiently learn the content being taught. There must be no room for distractions. A tutor must be able…

As mentioned above a tutor has the opportunity to teach a lesson that is tailored specifically to a certain students strengths and weaknesses. As well as this a tutor has the opportunity to really motivate and instill confidence in a student. I think it is important that a tutor is someone that a student looks forward to seeing as both a teacher…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is elevate their understanding of a topic and inspire further learning. Rather than write their homework or assessments, tutors must guide their students to be the best they can be and produce the best work possible. I will help my student and help them grow in their studies. As a tutor, I…

I believe the most important thing for a tutor is to be able to gauge the student's position and understanding of topics and to effectively be able to teach difficult concepts to them in a way that reduces their anxiety and helps them understand. Also making sure that they are comfortable and know that it is a safe space for them to ask questions…

The most important thing a tutor can do for students is to nurture their desire to learn and continue learning. This could be done by reinforcing the material whether they have yet to or already have learnt the material. By reinforcing it, students will have familiarity with the content and make it easier to tackle questions. As students feel…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them feel capable. Beyond explaining content, a tutor should create a space where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and think out loud without fear of judgment. A good tutor doesn’t just give answers, but teaches students how to approach problems,…

I believe a tutor must not only be an academic mentor but must also help students maintain a positive outlook on learning. Although learning can be difficult at times for students, it is important that tutors can empathise with them and provide the most suitable advice to motivate students and help them maintain a resilient mindset. I believe…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for their student is not just delivering information for a student to rote learn, but to demonstrate their unique way of understanding concepts and solving problems, so that their student(s) can use this insight to develop their own way to learn and solve problems, allowing them to become…

Yet again the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on their student as losing faith in your student can demotivate them. Where one important step in being able to understand and learn is putting in the work and effort. So a tutor should aid the students journey into putting in this effort. Which also includes being…

Support and guidance are vital to a students experience through education. While some need small levels of prompting or an extra pair of eyes to overlook work, some students may benefit from additional teachings outside of the traditional classroom to boost their sense of understanding in a more individual-focused lesson. The most important things a tutor can do is help students understand that being wrong or not being as fast or as good at studying is not a bad thing. Actually engage and interact with the student to find where, and more importantly why they're struggling or need help. MENTOR/TUTOR It is important that tutors have a friendly approach to students and make sure that students set a goal for every lesson. This way as a tutor we know that the student knows what is being taught and ensure the student understands the concepts. My strengths as a tutor are knowing the students' weaknesses of each area, and knowing…

Donald is a very patient tutor and he takes the time to work through problems with his student. Donald ensures that the parent is also aware of how the student is progressing and cares about achieving results and monitors any areas of where improvements are needed. My year 11 son has seen an improvement in his results since tutoring began this year. I would be pleased to recommend Donald.

Inside Cecil ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Jonathon focused on simplifying ratios and dividing numbers into given ratios, then practised solving real-world problems using rates.

Year 10 student Sarah worked through quadratic equations by factorising and graphing parabolas to find intercepts and turning points, also exploring how transformations affect the shape of the graphs.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student tackled advanced logarithm laws and solved challenging logarithmic equations step-by-step for deeper understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student hesitated to share answers during probability tasks, with a tutor noting, "he is quite shy and mostly replying with one-word answers," making it difficult for him to clarify confusion about tree diagrams.

In Year 10 English, incomplete PETAL structure and weak links to the question slowed short-answer progress; responses took longer as sentences were reworked repeatedly.

For a senior maths student, overthinking trigonometry questions meant more time was spent doubting steps than actually writing—this sometimes led to panic in timed settings. When this happened, correct strategies stayed unused while the clock kept ticking.

Recent Achievements

One Cecil Park tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now openly seeks clarification during maths sessions, which has led him to complete short answer questions more independently and with fewer mistakes.

A high school student working on assessment preparation started finding multiple methods herself to solve complex problems by herself after initially relying heavily on guidance—showing real initiative and flexible thinking.

Meanwhile, a primary-aged learner who once guessed at answers now explains his reasoning out loud before solving each question.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Green Valley Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Irfan College.
