According to me the basic responsibility for a tutor is to nurture the student's natural strength and elicit more learning and development than a classroom teacher and also understand their strength, weaknesses and interests that would help them academically successful. I view the role of a tutor as more of a assistant to the teacher. I main goal for the a tutor is to go in-depth on discussed in the classroom allowing the students to wrap their head around concepts that were once perceived as difficult and challenging. It is the tutors role to teaching correct habits and strategies to tackle difficult or…

As a tutor, I believe the most important thing is to help one who helps others to digest concepts and knowledge in an interactive and friendly environment while retaining their interest to study the knowledge. Also, I am also the one who analyse knowledge and mistake and seeks improvement in the exam preparation period, as I would help the student…

A trait I consider to be very important as a tutor is being a good leader. They should be very responsible for their actions, meaning that they will ensure each tutoring session is effective for the student. They should also be assertive, trustworthy and mindful, which helps them offer guidance to other students. Lastly, they should keep an open…

I think for a student, tutor can be a good friend who can teach him/her in an enjoyable way. A tutor can teach the student to be creative and also tackle other important decisions in life. Building their confidence and making it genuinely okay to be wrong. So many kids are terrified of giving the wrong answer, and that fear holds them back way more than the actual material does. If I can be a space where they feel safe enough to make mistakes and try again without embarrassment, that's going to do a lot more for them in the long run…

I should be able to make learning fun for the student and make the student feel more confident while dealing with the subject. The student might slowly develop liking for the subject if they find it easy and interesting. The most important task that should be done is that the concept is clear for the student such that they don't ever feel the…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is help students become independent learners. That means not just giving them the answers, but helping them understand how to solve problems on their own. I would say a tutors' ultimate goal would be to get in sync with the way the student is taught in their respective schools, colleges or universities. Additionally, it is extremely important to make friends with the students, as this is necessary for proper engagement. I am not afraid to do some research when it comes to getting a student to…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure the student clearly understands the topic, not just memorises it. It's about helping them build real confidence so that when they answer questions, whether in class or in exams, they're not second-guessing themselves. That means breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense…

Pass on experience and knowledge, so that the students can understand the topic at a conceptual level. A student that understands the core concepts behind a topic will be best prepared to take their study to a higher level so that is the most important thing a tutor can teach. It sounds basic but it is a common error made by tutors. Making sure that the student understands more than just how to solve the problem. Local Reviews

Ezy Math Tutoring have been extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Very professional with their communication and efforts to find the right tutors to fit my son's needs. The tutors themselves have made a big difference to my son's school performance and have always been reliable, knowledgeable, relatable and friendly. Highly Recommend.

Inside ChadstoneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 Mason practiced reading comprehension by answering questions about short stories and tackled subtraction problems from his maths workbook, also focusing on letter formation in handwriting.

In Year 11, Ash reviewed dramatic techniques in Greek tragedy—exploring catharsis and the tragic hero—and studied leadership styles and organisational structures for business management using real-world examples.

Another session with Ash (Year 12) focused on applying business management concepts to exam-style case study scenarios, discussing how different organisational approaches impact outcomes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student preparing for Business Management SACs struggled with time management, leaving some exam questions unfinished and rushing essay structure—"needed more precise argument progression," one note read.

In Psychology, another senior hesitated to put definitions in their own words, making revision less effective.

A Year 9 student's homework was repeatedly incomplete; when asked about it, they admitted motivation had dropped after missing earlier deadlines.

In Years 3–4 maths, several students avoided writing working for addition and subtraction problems ("did the maths in his head and couldn't explain reasoning"), leading to confusion and slow progress when faced with new question types.

Recent Achievements

Ash has started setting her own goals and now organises all her work ahead of time—something she hadn't done before—so she's fully prepared for assessments in business management.

In Year 11 English, another student who used to struggle with structuring essays was able to funnel her ideas into three clear topic sentences during an essay planning session.

Meanwhile, Mason managed to read two chapters aloud of an illustrated novel with minimal help after previously needing frequent prompting on each page.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Phoenix Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Salesian College Chadstone.
