I think the most important thing a tutor can do is help students become independent learners. That means not just giving them the answers, but helping them understand how to solve problems on their own. A tutor should also create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to keep learning. I think…

I would say a tutors' ultimate goal would be to get in sync with the way the student is taught in their respective schools, colleges or universities. Additionally, it is extremely important to make friends with the students, as this is necessary for proper engagement. I am not afraid to do some research when it comes to getting a student to…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure the student clearly understands the topic, not just memorises it. It's about helping them build real confidence so that when they answer questions, whether in class or in exams, they're not second-guessing themselves. That means breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to constantly support and encourage students during their schooling efforts. Moreover, to not answer everything for the student so that they can truly understand a concept and help when they are struggling. I am a hard working individual and am also quite strict and would maintain a strong…

Pass on experience and knowledge, so that the students can understand the topic at a conceptual level. A student that understands the core concepts behind a topic will be best prepared to take their study to a higher level so that is the most important thing a tutor can teach. It sounds basic but it is a common error made by tutors. Making sure that the student understands more than just how to solve the problem. That they understand the underlying concepts behind every problems they do. Even if they do not wish to pursue the field in the future, understanding the concepts will give them the confidence to approach all…

Patience is really important for students. Providing positive feedback, reassurance and encouragement, even if they don't quite understand yet. And finally being approachable and willing to explain something multiple times until they understand. I think my greatest strength as a tutor is my patience. Understanding each and every student is essential as all students don't operate on the same frequency. Hence, Understanding students and diagnosing them accordingly, with regard to their individual…

Answering the questions a student asks as they only ask if they truly do not understand a particular part and as a tutor its our duty to make them understand. Local Reviews

Ezy Math Tutoring have been extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Very professional with their communication and efforts to find the right tutors to fit my son's needs. Inside ChadstoneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 Mason practiced reading comprehension by answering questions about short stories and tackled subtraction problems from his maths workbook, also focusing on letter formation in handwriting.

In Year 11, Ash reviewed dramatic techniques in Greek tragedy—exploring catharsis and the tragic hero—and studied leadership styles and organisational structures for business management using real-world examples.

Another session with Ash (Year 12) focused on applying business management concepts to exam-style case study scenarios, discussing how different organisational approaches impact outcomes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student preparing for Business Management SACs struggled with time management, leaving some exam questions unfinished and rushing essay structure—"needed more precise argument progression," one note read.

In Psychology, another senior hesitated to put definitions in their own words, making revision less effective.

A Year 9 student's homework was repeatedly incomplete; when asked about it, they admitted motivation had dropped after missing earlier deadlines.

In Years 3–4 maths, several students avoided writing working for addition and subtraction problems ("did the maths in his head and couldn't explain reasoning"), leading to confusion and slow progress when faced with new question types.

Recent Achievements

Ash has started setting her own goals and now organises all her work ahead of time—something she hadn't done before—so she's fully prepared for assessments in business management.

In Year 11 English, another student who used to struggle with structuring essays was able to funnel her ideas into three clear topic sentences during an essay planning session.

Meanwhile, Mason managed to read two chapters aloud of an illustrated novel with minimal help after previously needing frequent prompting on each page.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Phoenix Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Salesian College Chadstone.
