A mentor or teacher can teach his/her students about reality and prepare them for various situation that they will face in future. Teacher can act as a friend, a motivator and a helping hand. I am Extrovert, good listener and I can work as a motivator. Working with the students comes with great responsibility. I love to take that challenge and be…

The most important thing is being able to connect with the children and spark curiosity about the subjects in their minds. As them being excited to learn makes them more receptive to learn more complex topics with relative ease. My strengths are approaching problems with different perspectives and focusing on the logic and structure of the…

A tutor is more than a teacher. A teachers job is to give a student a base level of understanding whereas a tutor can build on that and go further. This allows students to revisit sections that the teacher brushed over or to build on sections they seemingly understand to ensure they can answer a greater range of question types. Along with the…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be somewhat a friend rather than just an instructor or teacher. This is because I believe establishing a bit of a personal bond is very important for a successful tutor-tutee relationship as the student is more likely to be open about more of the issues that they face, both…

As a tutor, I could assist students to understand their subjects by motivating them involving an interactive class with students. When I went to tutoring, I had the best experience by having a very motivated, interactive and interesting tutor. I will try to become one of them though I'm still yet to gain formal experience of tutoring In addition,…

A tutor can encourage a student that they can do it. There is no word as no. Teacher's need to imbibe confidence in students especially those who are failing to acheive and give them a reason to do well in their studies. Teacher's need to be patient as well. Have clear objectives: I want me and my students to know where we are heading, what is our final destination. Having clear objectives help set the pathway to succeeding. Have a positive attitude: As most students don't want to spend more hours studying and be enjoying spare time instead, my goal is to remain positive in order to remind them why we…

By understanding the pace and most effective learning methods for students, whilst fostering a supportive learning environment where they are encouraged to ask questions, tutors can…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is being prepared. I believe the key traits in tutoring children are to always have a calm demeanor and also be open-minded about new ideas and methods to conduct a lesson. At the same time, the tutor should always inspire his students to dream big! I had been teaching students for over four years and have developed excellent knowledge of providing customized…

As a result, I always consider the most crucial responsibility of a tutor to go beyond imparting knowledge; it involves providing tailored support and fostering confidence in learning. In other words, after identifying individual learning styles and needs, tutors should provide highly personalized…

I believe it is vital that a student feels as though they have accomplished something at the end of each session and that there is a sense of progression felt for the student after each session. A tutor should be able to make the student work at a comfortable pace that does not stress them out or make them feel uncomfortable. Lastly, I believe a…

Helping them in a way that allows them to complete questions on their own, but also learn from the tutor. Inside East LindfieldTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student James focused on consolidating money calculations and tackling worded multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions.

In Year 9, Trai worked through plotting linear equations from tables and practised converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages while also reviewing rounding strategies.

For Year 11, Mario completed exam revision by practising logarithm questions alongside trigonometry and quadratic factorisation problems to strengthen his understanding before assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, a student frequently left working out blank when solving money questions and converting cents to dollars; as noted, "we didn't have much time at the end to cover it," which led to confusion when reviewing.

In Year 8 algebra, another student avoided writing steps and often erased work, resulting in repeated sign errors—"he rushes his work and does not write down his working making it easy to make mistakes."

For a Year 11 probability test, incomplete homework meant weaker recall of methods for combinations; missing practice resulted in stumbling on exam-style tasks under pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in East Lindfield noticed a big shift for a Year 10 student who, after struggling with bearings questions last week, managed to get nearly all of them right on her recent test.

Another high schooler showed real independence by solving for x without prompting by the end of the session—previously, he'd always needed step-by-step guidance.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to confuse fraction placement could now accurately order fractions himself, finishing up by explaining his reasoning out loud for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lindfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Lindfield East Public School.
